DNN development
A bespoke website built on DNN to provide a flexible platform for the on-demand service.
How BBI helped Talking Pictures TV launch and grow a bespoke on-demand streaming service, combining DNN development, Brightcove integration and a unique registration journey that helped validate demand for the platform.
Platform hosting, support and ongoing development for the on-demand service.
Active users engaging with the streaming platform each day.
From streaming concept to a working on-demand platform for viewers.
Video platform integration helping power the online content library.
BBI had already been hosting and supporting the Talking Pictures TV website and the Renown Pictures website when the team approached us with a new idea in 2021.
They wanted to create an on-demand streaming platform for classic film and television content - a service with some of the familiarity of platforms such as Netflix or Disney+, but designed specifically around the Talking Pictures TV audience.
The project had one very specific requirement. Visitors needed to be able to browse the full content catalogue before registering. They could explore categories, view thumbnails, read descriptions and see what was available. Registration or login would only be required at the point they chose to play a programme.
That user journey was central to the concept. It made the platform more open, more welcoming and more useful for visitors who wanted to discover the content before creating an account.
BBI used DNN to build the website and developed a bespoke registration and login module to deliver the exact user journey Talking Pictures TV wanted.
The result was a platform where the full catalogue could be browsed openly, while video playback remained protected behind registration and login. This gave users a more flexible experience and gave the platform a point of difference from many standard streaming services.
The bespoke module allowed users to browse content by category and genre before registering. Only when a visitor selected a programme to watch were they asked to log in or create an account. That difference may sound small, but it was fundamental to how Talking Pictures TV wanted the platform to work.

Launching the platform was only the beginning. BBI continued to host, maintain and support Talking Pictures TV Encore over the following three years.
During that time, our team developed deeper knowledge of Brightcove, video platform management and advertising delivery. We also worked through the practical technical requirements of running an on-demand service with a growing audience.
The platform achieved around 3,000 active users each day, demonstrating clear demand for the concept and helping Talking Pictures TV understand the potential of a larger streaming offer.
The success of Talking Pictures TV Encore helped establish the foundations for the service's next stage of development.
After three years, the platform had demonstrated that there was a significant and engaged audience for on-demand Talking Pictures TV content. This gave the business the confidence to move towards a more advanced subscription-led ecosystem, including additional viewing options and Smart TV app capability.
That next evolution was handled through a different provider, but BBI's role had been clear: we helped take the original idea from concept to working platform, supported it as it grew and helped prove the demand for what came next.
