The challenge

Schwank UK needed local marketing support as it built its presence.

Schwank is an international heating and cooling company with its parent company in Germany and operations in different countries. BBI worked specifically with Schwank UK, supporting the local team as it developed its presence in the UK market.

When Schwank UK became a BBI client in 2001, the business needed its first website. The company supplied heating and cooling systems for large buildings such as warehouses, aircraft hangars and sports venues, but its UK online presence was still at an early stage.

The solution

A long-term marketing partnership supporting changing business needs.

BBI designed and built Schwank UK’s first website, then provided hosting and support for the following six years. When the German head office later centralised the international websites, Schwank UK’s local site became part of a wider group-controlled web presence.

Although the website moved into the group structure, BBI’s relationship with Schwank UK continued. We had originally registered and managed the company’s domain names, which meant there remained a practical reason to stay in contact. Over time, that continuing relationship and rapport with the UK team led to further marketing work.

Bringing UK relevance to SEO and content

In 2013, the German head office had started SEO activity for the UK website. However, Schwank UK’s Managing Director felt the work lacked local relevance and was not delivering strongly enough for the UK market. BBI was asked to take over the SEO, bringing a more focused understanding of the UK audience, search landscape and commercial priorities.

SEO

From 2013, BBI supported Schwank UK with more locally relevant SEO activity.

Social media marketing

Our involvement expanded into social media as Schwank UK became more visible in its sector.

Email marketing

BBI also supported Schwank UK with email marketing and other campaign activity over the relationship.

Wider projects

Using digital marketing to support authority and practical business needs.

As Schwank UK became better established, the company developed a strong reputation as a trusted source of information within the heating and cooling sector. In 2015, following changes around ErP - Energy-related Products - regulations, BBI created a Schwank-branded website called ERP Compliance.

The purpose of the site was to position Schwank as a helpful, knowledgeable industry voice. It gave people in the heating and cooling sector a resource they could use to understand the changing rules, while also strengthening Schwank UK’s authority and visibility.

In 2019, BBI also helped take Schwank UK’s spare parts business online. Until then, customers ordered parts by phone or email, with stock held in London and either shipped out or collected in person. BBI built an ecommerce website that allowed customers to order spares online, making the process easier and more efficient.

The outcome

A 24-year relationship supporting Schwank UK’s growth and reputation.

BBI’s relationship with Schwank UK lasted from 2001 to 2025. During that time, the work developed from website design and hosting into SEO, social media, email marketing, thought leadership content and ecommerce development.

The relationship came to a natural end following a change in UK leadership. A new Managing Director joined the business and, as often happens, chose to make changes to the company’s marketing arrangements.

For BBI, the Schwank UK story remains a strong example of long-term marketing support. We helped a business that was still relatively fledgling in the UK build its digital presence, strengthen its authority and become a recognised name in its sector.
